One of the most popular baguettes in Germany is the one with tuna. No other seafood can compete with the popularity of tuna. We love tuna.

Combined with a delicious dressing or mayonnaise, tuna unfolds its true variety of flavours. The dip recipe is simple and quick to do. It is my personal favorite when it comes to a sandwich filling.

Prep Time10 mins

Ingredients

¼ can of tuna fish (in own juice)
 ¾ basil leaves
 ¼ tomato (small chopped)
  onion (very finely chopped)
 25 g sour cream
 ¼ tsp pepper
 paprika powder
 ¼ tsp vinegar
 ¼ pinch of sugar
 ¼ pinch of salt

Why Is The Recipe Great?

  • The spices and herbs give a light spicy aroma without surpassing the tuna.

  • The tomato gives the dip the necessary freshness and complements well with the tuna.

Directions

1

Prepare the onions and tomatoes and put them aside.

2

Make a sauce from the sour cream, vinegar, and all spices. Stir well!

3

Add the onions and mix well. Then add the basil and tomatoes.

4

Drain the tuna, chop and add.

5

Mix well and carefully.

Variations

Sugar-free - replace sugar with other sweeteners. A little bit of honey would be a substitute or sweetener. You want to have not sugar? Leave the sugar out and preferably the vinegar too.

More vegetables - add peas or corn.

More nutritious - get your favorite bread and make a sandwich out of the tuna dip. You can add plenty of vegetables and salad.

Salad - with iceberg lettuce or salad hearts, you can turn the tuna dip into a complete salad.

other vinegar - my favourite choice is herb vinegar or white wine vinegar. Or you can use lemon juice instead of vinegar.

More protein - eggs are great for tuna. Just cut it into small pieces and add it.

Lots of herbs - fresh, chopped parsley improves the taste and makes the tuna dip look more delicious.

Tips & Time Savings

  • It is best to eat the dip fresh, so it tastes the best. If you don't have the tuna dip right away, please eat it on the same day. The taste changes over time.
  • You can save time by preparing the sauce. Just add the critical ingredients like tomato, basil and tuna later.
